What a kitchen remodel with us includes

Cabinets, whether that is new boxes or refacing what is already solid. Countertops in quartz or granite, templated and fabricated to your room rather than cut to a catalogue size. Backsplash tile. Sinks, faucets and the plumbing behind them. Lighting and outlets to current code. And the floor, which is where we started as a company and still the part most remodelers subcontract out.

We are a flooring company that remodels, and in a kitchen that order matters more than it sounds. The floor decides the height of everything that sits on it - dishwasher clearance under a counter, the swing of a cabinet door, whether a threshold into the next room lands flush. Getting it wrong is a problem you find at the end of the job, when it is expensive.

What moves the price

We do not publish a square-foot price, because the number that matters is how much has to move. Two kitchens the same size can differ by a factor of three.

  • Whether the layout stays put, or the sink, range or a wall moves
  • Cabinet grade - refacing sound boxes, stock, or custom
  • Countertop material and how many seams and cutouts the shape needs
  • Whether the electrical needs bringing up to code while the walls are open
  • How much of the old floor and subfloor has to come out
  • Appliance sizes, which decide cabinet openings before anything is ordered

Why the layout question comes first

Keeping your existing layout - same sink, same range, same wall - means new surfaces on sound bones, and that is the fastest and cheapest version of a kitchen remodel. It is also the one most people are actually after when they say the kitchen feels dated.

Moving the sink or the range means plumbing and electrical, and on a slab it can mean cutting concrete. Taking out a wall means checking whether it is carrying load. Both are worth doing when the layout genuinely does not work. Neither is worth doing by accident because a drawing looked good.

Common questions

How long will my kitchen be out of use?

Usually two to four weeks of actual work, plus the countertop wait in the middle. The counters cannot be templated until the cabinets are in, and fabrication takes one to two weeks after that. Most people set up a temporary kitchen with the fridge, microwave and coffee maker somewhere else in the house for that stretch.

Can I keep my cabinets and just change the counters and floor?

Often, and it is a good way to spend a smaller budget. If the boxes are solid and the layout works, new counters, a backsplash, hardware and a floor change the room more than people expect. We will tell you honestly whether your boxes are worth keeping.

Quartz or granite?

Quartz for most kitchens here: non-porous, no sealing, consistent pattern. Granite if you want natural stone and do not mind sealing it. We cover the trade-off properly in our countertop ROI guide.

Do you install the floor before or after the cabinets?

Before, in almost every case. It puts the cabinets at the right height relative to appliances and thresholds, and it means no seam line appearing if a cabinet is ever removed. There are exceptions, and we will say so if yours is one.

Do I need a permit for a kitchen remodel?

Replacing cabinets, counters and flooring generally does not. Moving plumbing or electrical, or altering a wall, generally does - and the exact line depends on whether you are in the county or a city limit. We pull the permits and meet the inspections either way.

Do you do the whole job or subcontract it?

Our crew does the flooring, tile and finish work. Where a licensed trade is required, we coordinate it and stay responsible for the schedule. You deal with us, not with five different phone numbers.
